Aussie boy's thoughts

Extremely crude, fucking chaotic, shockingly immature, epically insane and maximum levels of teenage sex, boobs, drinking and language. Project X may perhaps be… or actually to correct that, IS the most epic party of all time. What did we even just watch? What the fuck was that? How in the world does this shit happen? Could it possibly be any more “incraotic (insane + crazy + chaotic)”? You know, the answer to the audience target for this movie is obvious; for extreme party seekers ready to be flipped out of their minds, because some will love it and others will hate it. But why’s that?

In Project X, a party comedy where most of the cast uses their real names for this found-footage-style film, three extremely immature teenage friends looking to gain some popularity decide to throw a party that, to their surprise, becomes a total fucking nightmare and begins to spread. This movie is based on the events surrounding the party of Corey Worthington, who became Australia’s most infamous teenager after he threw an insane party at his parents house and the police got involved.

Will it entertain you? Oh hell yes, this motherfucker of a documentary-style party comedy will entertain you. However, as the party grows and the content becomes more chaotic, crude and appalling for mature people, it also becomes extremely stressful as now fires are being lit and houses are crashing down. The worst thing is how this movie doesn’t even care about how it’s glamourising drinking, drug use, objectification and all of this behaviour. How did Project X even get approved as a film?

It does deserve some points for being entertaining, stupid and fun, but all of the material and humour is absolutely shocking and outrageously disgusting. Women are constantly nude, all of the partygoers have alcohol in their hands and the main characters are extremely unlikable. You do have to admit, some of what plays out in front of your eyes is pretty awesome for a fictional-type movie, like the flamethrower and the car crashing in the pool, but all of this is apparently based around some true event on a dickhead who threw a party like this in real life. How can this even happen? Do some people really become that careless with their lives?
