This tale of money, greed and power is violent but really decent and entertaining based on a true story. Casino is an excellent Mafia movie that’s definitely worth checking out for fans of other movies by Scorsese.

Aussie boy's thoughts

Martin Scorsese’s Casino isn’t the most well executed crime-drama classic, but it’s exactly what Mafia fans want: a brilliantly performed, brutally violent and entertaining story of money, greed and power. Like most of Scorsese’s old crime movies, you can expect heaps of rough language and very graphic violence. The film also features the masterful acting of Robert De Niro, Jo Pesci and Sharon Stone, in addition to amazing graphics and unforgettable effects.

However, most will discover that although this classic is very entertaining, it’s also not Scorsese’s best work. There’s just not such great emotions in it. But if you adore the old and classical Mafia movies, especially ones like The Godfather and Goodfellas, you cannot skip this one.

Throughout the film, there’s also remarkable soundtrack that, to be harshly sharp, is an impossible abomination to hate. It suits the settings, motion and brutality well, but is just true first-class music for the background.

The film is too graphic for kids, but is a film that older teens will enjoy with their parents. Casino is a must-watch movie for big fans of director Martin Scorsese, or anyone who really enjoys his films, because this movie is really good. It’s another great Mafia classic that again makes you realise that all of the really good gangster movies usually come from the 70s and 80s. There’s no genius out their who can recreate the exact same feelings, quality and pace.
