The Father is a thoroughly realistic and powerful depiction of dementia. Not only are the performances of Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman masterful, but the featured perspective is an unforgettable gem. This film is definitely an important must watch for teens and adults, and accurately earns it’s truthful rewards.
So not only is The Father a masterpiece; it’s a total experience. What the film does is it grabs and places you in the perspective of a sufferer, meaning that the devastating story indeed relies on the realistic acting. This compelling tale is structured and gets very personal at times, but still manages to be a moving drama to be added to the must-watch list.
